they don't bulk up 'till around 3- 3 1/2 feet.
hey kim that reminds me, years ago when my buddies mom had a lakehouse close to you, we saw a breeding ball of cottonmouths just off shore in 2-3 feet of water. he runs back to the house to get the shot gun. he shot right into the pile and they went nuts! at least 4 larger ones jumped from the pile on shore and took off towards us. good thing his duck plug wasn't in.
