Just joining the military does not guarantee one will be killed or injured even in war time. Even joining the Marines doesn't guarantee one will be killed or injured. The vast majority of the military serve their enlistment without any injury. Only a small minority are killed or injured and nowhere near the amount of previous wars. It sounds to me like many people would like to do away with all military in America. What they don't realize is that we are not protected by location anymore so we need a military for our protection or we would be invaded by other countries. Without the military then we would be last line of defense for our nation and there are those who wish to take that protection away from us as well.
