It looks like they created a voltage coil with an iron core around it and so long as the proper voltage is applied, I guess it would work. Though the welds look very similar to little piles of chicken droppings, maybe it'll hold for what they're doin with it. 'Course then welding without a pair of gloves and a hood is pretty foolhearty since you can't actually watch the weld you're makin and it's all pretty much luck as to what you'll end up with that way.

I wonder how they change the output current for differing thicknesses of material ? Maybe they kink the incoming power to decrease the output voltage for thinner stuff, then have several people jump up and down on the power cable to pump up the output for thicker stuff
