Sadly in 08 just as in most every election I've been able to vote in all my life it will most likely be much more a decision based on a lesser of evils candidate than one relative to a candidate I can solidly back.

The ONLY independent candidate I ever thought had a real shot at it (though a long shot still) was H. Ross Perot. Had he been elected I feel the political playing field would likely have undregone a major change and all of it for the best.

Perot was all for getting the government to accept a need for accountability to the American public and opposed further intrusion by the federal govt. into the areas of states and individual municipality rights issues which damned sure made more sense to me! I'm all for having the US government control issues ONLY on the national level and leave the states to decide what is necessary for themselves without the fed leaning on them or attempting to make those choices for them
