a very attractive and rare early 19th century Kulah Khud Persian or Indian forged Steel Skull Helmet from a German private collection. The skull consists of 17 groved compartments, each with remnants of Foliage decoration. The rim of the helmet also has traces of interlocking chain decoration running circumferentially.
There is a riveted conical Crest Plate with a cylindrical tall Plume socket. There are a further two plume sockets in the front, on each side of a sliding Nasal. The rim has hanging forehead and neck protection of iron rings. Height: 14 inches, hanging. Height of skull cap: 8 inches. Diameter: 8 inches. Intact, untouched. Provenance: Hermann Historica, Munich Germany.
