More than half the population of Iraq resides in or near Baghdad. That's also the reason why Baghdad is the most dangerous place to be -- and why Baghdad is our primary area of responsibility.

I've been there twice, and I find it humorous that so many people think that everything happening in Iraq is a secret government conspiracy. We elect our own government, and our military is comprised of our own sons and daughters. Still, there are people who think that everything is a part of an insidious plan.

Iraq took us all by surprise. We thought they had nukes, and we were wrong. We thought that we would be greeted as liberators, since Saddam was such a feared and ruthless dictator. We were wrong again. We thought that Iraqis would work at our side to restore order and rebuild their country. And we were wrong yet again.

Shias, Sunnis and Kurds all hate each other almost as much as they hate the Christian and Jewish "infidels" that they constantly declare Jihad against. The only thing that the different Muslim sects can agree on is that their religion MUST be a cornerstone of their government. This is why civil war in Iraq is unavoidable and inevatable. In fact, it's already begun.
