You would be mistaken if you believe that W didn't want to invade Iraq in 2000 when he took office. How many times do you need to be hammered on the head by former Bush admin people that said "He wanted to attack Saddam" before you get it?
w played to the lowest common denominator. "I'm protecting my daddy by taking out Saddam". BTW, W said it on film in the early days.
W was dumb enough to think Saddam ruled Iraq. The Sunni and Shia militias rule Iraq now. They have ruled it since the British ruled Iraq for 80 years.
No american news source knows this. Hence why most americans are clueless.
