Yeah Ford tried to compete for like two seconds and droped out. The Douglas DC-3 was to become the Airline of the future. The Tri Motor is and exhaustivly slow airplane. The one you have seen in the crash was use to give sight seeing tours and sometimes it towed banners up and down the beach from Santa Barbara to San Diego. It was a sad sad day when it went in. Almost took out the control tower to the airport.
