Many of the early settlers did not speak english. They spoke dutch, french, spanish, and yes english.

Native americans (indians) never spoke english. EVER. Some only learned english after we forced them too. Hmmm .. forced .. kind of like the question at hand.

If someone is an american citizen and should happen to speak french, italian, spanish to anyone the language police are going to arrest them and deport them to whose knows where.

If the shirt said "I want immigrants to speak english or get out" it would make more sense but would still be unsavory.

The idea americans should be FORCED to speak a certain language is ridiculous.
