brokntoad: it is not a coincidence, in these kinds of races runners tend to run together with friends, so that they can healp each other; when there is a group of runners, the one which is on the front does the hardest job, so if you are with a group of friends, you can stay on the fron a while and then leave such a position to friends for a while and then go back on the front...it is a way for optimizing energies
