Humor aside, , if we're going to discuss the "retaliatory Jesus", otherwise known as the "Battlin' Jesus" I heard the 'turn the other cheek' thing yet another way: Since Jesus was arabic and a Jew, and the culture says the left hand is unclear (due to wiping your butt with it), turning the other cheek was an insult to the overlords ... they would hit you with their right hand on your left cheek, so to insult them (since you can't really hit an overlord back, else suffer torture, etc.), you turn your other - right - cheek, asking them to strike you with their unclean =left= hand ... something they would not do. It was a passive-aggressive affront. But who knows. Wikipedia has a couple other versions, different from both of ours.

Regardless, I still think He would not have started an air war over Iraq that has now killed in excess of 100,000 people. If Saddam & Sons were to blame for despotic excess - and they certainly were - I think Jesus would have taken the fight to them, right? Dealt with them personally, and not persecuted the entire land with depleted uranium.
