Beast. Let’s talk turkey for a few minutes.

You express a great deal of rage at the injustices in the world, especially those perpetrated by the United States and white Europeans in general. Fair enough. Injustices of that sort are indeed numerous. But I confess that I cannot take your outrage at face value. Why is that? Well, it seems to me that if you were truly concerned about the plight of the suffering, you would most likely be taking positive action of one kind or another. You’d join Greenpeace, or the Black Bloc, or MSF, or write for indymedia, or run guns to the EZLN, or snip Pentagon telephone wires, or something like that. Or do what a friend of mine did and travel to Cambodia as an unpaid volunteer to work for landmine clearance. If you hated injustice, you would be working to defeat it, and to promote justice.

But what is it you actually do? You post many images and comments to plus613 – fucking plus613 of all places! The abandoned anus of the internet, where nothing has any meaning whatsoever! And you check your threads very frequently – every hour or two – to see what sort of response you’re getting. Are you trying to convince people of the truth of your assertions? No, because you respond with invective even to honest requests for further information. Are you trying to bring suppressed information to people who are not aware of it? No, because we are all aware of the things you are talking about, and those of us who aren’t are not in the least motivated by your delivery to seek out alternative information. You are conquering no hearts and no minds, and are bringing into disrepute the very causes you believe yourself to be advancing. (Much like an agent provocateur, come to think of it…) And I know you’re not doing something constructive because you’re constantly online, and I know full well what kind of life one has to live to spend hours every day online.

So what is your true motivation? Let’s see…posts of shocking pictures and dramatic claims…frequent daily checks of your threads and numerous, invariably aggressive and self-righteous responses to everyone who doesn’t completely agree with you…It seems likely to me that your true motivation is not outrage at injustice at all, but rather…ego. Your behavior can most accurately be characterised as “attention-seeking”. You want acknowledgement of your existence, regardless of whether it is positive or negative. In other words, or one word actually: pride.

Now you will recall that this is precisely what you accuse Bush of being motivated by. Isn’t that odd: you are angered by another’s display of your own fault. Perhaps there’s a deeper principle there. I’ll leave it as an exercise for you to work out just what that principle might be.

Beast. You sound like a very young man, and not at all a stupid one. You have potential. Please do not waste it: do not fritter it away on plus613, or allow it to stagnate. Direct your energies towards love and work, real work and real love, and you just might be able to make a genuine contribution to improving this shithole of a world we all live in. Pissing about on the net is worse than lying in bed and masturbating, because it saps others, not just yourself, of precious energy. There are a million better ways to spend your time and life.

I hope you’ll have a good hard think about what I’ve said, Beast.

PS: A minor error in logic that you have made is to assume a necessary connection between whiteness and criminality. A moment’s reflection will show you that this is an error. I won’t bore you by citing the number of nonwhite dictators and murderers etc, or getting into a pissing contest over numbers of dead. I will say only that the root of suffering and evil lies much deeper than skin color. Seek it.
