Whoa, dude. Putting a bell on the cat is not the
same as declawing them. We've got three "farm cats" who spend as much time outdoors as in, and
I wouldn't dream of declawing them. The bell trick, however, does seem to save a few tweety-
birds. I still receive gifts of 1/2 a rodent on
a regular basis, and rodents WOULD overpopulate
if not for cats..but I beg to differ on the con-
cept of "songbird overpopulation"! Domestic cats
that have gone feral don't really fit into most
folks' idea of "nature". The birds have (or should have) enough "natural" predators to adeq-
uately control their numbers.
