TAMPA (AP) — Authorities say a Hillsborough County deputy shot one pit bull and stunned another with a Taser after a Tampa man set the dogs loose on him.

The sheriff's office reports that the deputy was responding to a noise complaint Tuesday at the home of 26-year-old Juan David Delvalle. Authorities say Delvalle ran back into the home, returned with a dog held by the collar and ordered it to attack the deputy, who stunned it with his Taser. Delvalle ran back inside, and another pit bull attacked. With his Taser already deployed, the deputy fired two shots from his pistol.

Authorities say a second deputy arrived and stunned Delvalle with his Taser.

Delvalle was arrested on several charges, including assaulting an officer. He remained in jail on $13,000 bail.

JENSEN BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a Martin County man accused of downloading child pornography blamed the crime on his cat.

According to a sheriff's report, Jensen Beach resident Keith Griffin told investigators that pornographic images downloaded when his cat jumped on his computer keyboard while he was downloading music.

Griffin is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. He is being held on $250,000 bond in the Martin County jail. It is unclear if he has an attorney.

Sheriff's officials say a family friend is now caring for the cat.

Not really morons but close enough...

When Dutchman Joannes Rutten and his grandson boarded a Sydney-bound flight last week, they were looking forward to a few weeks' rest and relaxation Down Under.
Instead they were left scratching their heads when their plane touched down on an island off the north-eastern coast of Canada.
Sydney, Australia, they soon discovered, is a long way from Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The 71-year-old and his grandson Nick, 15, had booked the trip through a travel agent in Holland two months ago and were planning to visit family. They set out from Amsterdam's Schiphol airport with Air Canada on Saturday, but headed west instead of east. They were ushered onto a suspiciously small connecting flight in Halifax, Canada, before they realised their plans had gone awry.
Tourism Australia launched an overseas marketing campaign in 2006 with the slogan: So where the bloody hell are you?
And it seems the Ruttens are not the only tourists to answer: We're in Canada.

In August 2002, British tourists Raeoul Sebastian and Emma Nunn spent their holidays in Nova Scotia after thinking they were flying to Australia. And last year, Monique Rozanes Torres Aguero from Argentina thought she was in Australia after landing in Nova Scotia. She decided to stay for a holiday after befriending a local woman at the airport.

A round up of this weeks oddities in the news from Yahoo ....

Pork, doin well in Illinois:
In July, the National Institutes of Health awarded $3 million to the University of Illinois Chicago to identify the things that cause lesbians to drink alcohol. It will be very important, said research director Tonda Hughes, to compare why lesbians drink with why heterosexual women drink.

The thorns of juvenile justice:
Maryland corrections officials, hoping to improve juvenile rehabilitation by a kinder, gentler approach to incarceration, opened its New Beginnings Youth Center in May. The lockdown facility had declined to use razor wire, instead merely landscaping its chain-link fences with thorny rose bushes. After one inmate easily escaped on the second day of operation, razor wire was installed.

Please bless my gadgets :
The Shinto temple Kanda Shrine, near Tokyo's version of Silicon Valley, does a brisk business blessing electronic gadgets, according to a July dispatch in Wired magazine. Lucky charms go for the equivalent of about $8.50, but for a personal session, the temple expects an offering of the equivalent of at least $50. The Wired writer, carrying a potentially balky cell phone, approached the shrine with a tree branch as instructed, turned it 180 degrees clockwise, and laid it on the altar. After bowing twice and clapping his hands twice, he left, looking forward to a glitch-free phone.

Eggzakree:
Lonely Japanese men (and a few women) with rich imaginations have created a thriving subculture ("otaku"winking smiley in which they have all-consuming relationships with figurines that are based on popular anime characters. "The less extreme," reported a New York Times writer in July, obsessively collect the dolls. The hardcore otaku "actually believes that a lumpy pillow with a drawing of a (teenage character) is his girlfriend," and takes her out in public on romantic dates. "She has really changed my life," said "Nisan," 37, referring to his gal, Nemutan. (The otaku dolls are not to be confused with the life-size, anatomically-correct dolls that other lonely men use for sex.) One forlorn "2-D" (so named for preferring relationships with two-dimensionals) said he would like to marry a real, 3-D woman, "disappointed smileyb)ut look at me. How can someone who carries this (doll) around get married?"

I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT A HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL CAN SEE THE PROBLEM, BUT OUR SOCIETY CANNOT. IF I OFFEND ANYONE BY THIS, I REALLY DON'T APOLOGIZE !
Subject: Tennessee Football !
This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School , Kingston , Tennessee , by school Principal, Jody McLeod
"It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country."
Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it "an alternate life style," and if someone is offended, that's OK.
I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, "safe sex...." If someone is offended, that's OK.
I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a "viable! means of birth control." If someone is offended, no problem...
I can designate a school day as "Earth Day" and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess "Mother Earth" and call it "ecology.."
I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as "simple minded" and "ignorant" and call it "enlightenment.."
However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated..
This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical.
Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.
Nevertheless , as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical... I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.
For this reason, I shall "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's," and refrain from praying at this time.
"However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM, in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so. As far as I know, that's not against the law----yet."
One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.
They prayed in the stands.. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer's Box!
The only place they didn't pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America- the Seat of "Justice" in the "one nation, under GOD."
Somehow, Kingston , Tennessee Remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohio police say a suspect in a robbery was arrested when he returned to the home about two hours later to ask the victim out on a date.

Police say 20-year-old Stephfon Bennett was among three men who robbed a couple late Sunday.

Columbus police Sgt. Sean Laird says the woman recognized Bennett as one of the robbers when he returned to ask her out. She had a relative call police.

Police say Bennett was arrested in front of the home. He was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of aggravated robbery and was being held in the Franklin County jail on $100,000 bail.

Authorities arrested a 39-year-old Punta Gorda woman Wednesday, after she reportedly left her three children home alone to chat online with a guy in hopes of having sex.

Judith C. Luiz, of the 1200 block of Slash Pine Circle, was charged with three counts of child neglect.

A Punta Gorda Police Officer stopped Luiz's vehicle just before 11:30 p.m. for running a stop sign.

During the stop, Luiz initially told officers she lived alone, although there was a car seat affixed to the rear passenger seat of her vehicle, according to a police report.

After admitting she had a 2-year-old daughter, Luiz said her girl was home alone sleeping, the report stated.

Police followed her home, at which point, Luiz said she had a total of three children — ages 2, 4, and 5 — at the home, sleeping alone. Two of the kids were considered special needs children, the report said.

Luiz told officers she went to a friend's home to use the computer, and chat online with a man she met at a social networking site. She was gone about two hours.

The goal, Luiz said, reportedly was to meet with the man later that night and have sex.

She was taken to the Charlotte County Jail. Her bond was set at $7,500.

US police said a man's attempt to rob a convenience store was thwarted when a clerk demanded to see his gun.

Authorities said a flustered Adam Alsarabi fled from the White Hen Pantry in Haverhill, Massachusetts and later was caught in the woods by police. No gun was found on him.

Police said the 22-year-old entered the store and told the clerk to give him money and that he had a gun.

The clerk said he could have the money, but had to show the gun first.

Police said Alsarabi then ran out of the store and into the woods.

He pleaded not guilty on Friday in Haverhill District Court to trespassing, resisting arrest and attempting to commit a crime.

It's unclear if Alsarabi has hired a lawyer.

A US woman has been arrested for asking her 13-year-old daughter to ride in a cardboard box on top of a minivan.

Albertville police arrested Jackie Denise Knott, 37, after receiving calls from drivers worried for the child's safety.

Ms Knott claimed the box was too big for the van, so she told her child to sit in it to stop it blowing off the van's roof.

She said she wasn't concerned for her daughter's welfare, as the box was tied to the van with a coathanger.

“The box was too big to go inside the van and she would be able to hold it down if (the child) was inside the box,” Albertville police told the Sand Mountain Reporter.

Ms Knott has been charged with endangering the life of a child.

A relative at the scene assumed responsibility for the girl.

PARIS (AP) — Somali pirates in two skiffs fired on a French navy vessel early Wednesday after apparently mistaking it for a commercial boat, the French military said. The French ship gave chase and captured five suspected pirates.

No one was wounded by the volleys from the Kalashnikov rifles directed at La Somme, a 3,800-ton refueling ship, said Rear Admiral Christophe Prazuck, a military spokesman.

La Somme "was probably taken for a commercial ship by the two small skiffs" some 250 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia, said Prazuck.

"They understood their mistake too late," Prazuck said.

One skiff fled, and La Somme pursued the second one in an hour-long chase.

"There were five suspected pirates on board. No arms, no water, no food," Prazuck said.

France is a key member of the European Union's naval mission, Operation Atalanta, fighting Somali pirates in the Gulf of Aden. It has aggressively tracked and caught suspected pirates and handed over at least 22 to Kenya. An additional 15 suspects were brought to France for prosecution after allegedly seizing French nationals' boats.

BERLIN (Reuters) – A German man mooning at railway staff in a departing train got his trousers caught in a carriage door and ended up being dragged half naked along the platform, out of the station and onto the tracks.

The 22-year-old journalism student shoved his backside against the window of a low-slung double-decker train when staff forced him off in Lauenbrueck for traveling without a ticket, a spokesman for police in the northern city of Bremen said.

"It's a miracle he wasn't badly hurt," the spokesman said on Monday. "This sort of thing can end up killing you."

Instead, dangling by his trousers, the man got pulled along for about 200 meters, all the while managing to keep his legs away from the wheels of the train.

The ordeal ended when a passenger pulled the emergency brake. Rescues services were called in, causing rail services between Bremen and Hamburg to be suspended for over an hour, delaying 23 trains.

The man -- unharmed except for cuts and bruises -- now faces charges of dangerous interference in rail transport, insulting the train staff, and may face sizeable a compensation claim for the delays he caused, police said.

"He was full of remorse when I talked to him," the spokesman said. "And he advised others not to try the same thing."

In summary, the police arrested Patrick Lawrence, 22 year
old white male, in a pumpkin patch 11:38 p.m. On Friday night.
On Monday , at the Gwinnett County (GA) courthouse, Lawrence was charged
with lewd and lascivious behaviour, public indecency,
and public intoxication.

The suspect explained that as he was passing a pumpkin patch
on his way home from adrinking session when he decided to stop,
'You know how a pumpkin is soft and squishy inside, and there was no
one around for miles or at least I thought there wasn't
anyone around' he stated in a telephone interview.

Lawrence went on to say that he pulled over to the
side of the road, picked out a pumpkin that he felt was
appropriate to his purpose, cut a hole in it, and
proceeded to satisfy his alleged need. 'Guess
I was really into it, you know?' he commented
with evident embarrassment. In the process of doing the
deed, Lawrence failed to notice an
approaching police car and was unaware of his audience
until Officer Brenda Taylor approached him.
'It was an unusual situation, that's for sure,' said Officer
Taylor.. 'I walked up to Lawrence and he's
just banging away at this pumpkin.' Officer Taylor went
on to describe what happened when she approached
Lawrence. 'I said, 'Excuse me sir, but do you
realize that you're having sex with a pumpkin?
'He froze and was clearly very surprised that I was there,
and then he looked me straight in the face and said...
'A pumpkin? Shit .... Is it midnight already?'

SALEM, Oregon (AP) — Oregon police have charged a man with drunk driving after he called police to report his marijuana as stolen.

Calvin Hoover, 21, told dispatchers early Tuesday someone had broken into his truck and stolen cash, a jacket and a small amount of marijuana while he was at a tavern.

He called police again to complain they had not arrived, but the dispatcher had trouble understanding Hoover because he was driving and stopping occasionally to vomit, the Statesman Journal reported.

He was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants.

Medical marijuana is legal in Oregon, where nearly 21,000 people have permits for use. It was not immediately clear if Hoover had such a permit.

VALLEJO, Calif. (AP) — The California Highway Patrol say a man stole a car to make a court appearance on a previous auto theft charge. Patrol investigator Chris Linehan says he arrested Samuel Botchvaroff Tuesday as he sat inside a stolen 2000 Range Rover at the Vallejo courthouse. The 24-year-old Botchvaroff had just left his arraignment on auto theft charges stemming from an Oct. 31 arrest. Linehan said the Range Rover’s LoJack system helped him locate the vehicle, which had been stolen from Oakland earlier Tuesday morning. Authorities say Botchvaroff told officers his car had been impounded, and he had no other way to get to his arraignment. He was booked into Solano County Jail on suspicion of auto theft and possession of stolen property.

It's one thing to put in a carbon tax and do something environmental with it. I have no issues with them putting cash into renewable energies, solar etc.. have plenty of sunlight and a big country to generate it.

The issue is ALL of the money generated from the tax is being provided in terms of tax concessions to "lower" income households to cover *110%* of the impact of the tax.

90% of people will be either compensated or overcompensated for the increases in cost of living through tax concessions raised by this tax. Which means it's quite simply yet another labour socialist tax, taxing the so called "rich" (of which apparently I am??) to give to the "poor".

I dunno about you guys, I don't consider myself rich. I've got a fucking MASSIVE mortgage because I wanted to live in an area that I like (god forbid), get the train to work, don't take holidays etc - yet they stick me with every new fucking tax they come up with. Flood levies? Have some! Medicare levy? Oh yeah! Higher tax rates? Of course! Carbon tax, which will make ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE to any environmental factors? Naturally. But let's turn the tables. Rebates.. Baby bonus? Nope! "Buy our way out of GFC" $900? Not a chance. And soon if they get their way, because I'm forced through tax to have private health insurance, they're going to remove the health insurance rebate too!

I'm fucking sick of this socialist asswipe government. It's just getting beyond a joke now. Don't get me wrong, I hate the opposition at the moment too, but how the fuck did they become the voice of reason in all of this?

A farmer in South Africa has been killed by his pet hippopotamus, after repeated warnings that it was a wild animal that could never be tamed.

Marius Els, 40, an army major, was bitten to death by the 1.2 tonne hippo he christened Humphrey and tried to domesticate on a farm in Free State province.

Els's savaged body was found submerged in the river where, years earlier, the hippo had been rescued from a flood. It grew too big for the people who adopted it and was bought by Els at the age of five months, becoming a pet on his 400-acre farm and learning to swim with humans.

Earlier this year, Els was photographed riding on the five-year-old hippo's back. "Humphrey's like a son to me, he's just like a human," he said. "There's a relationship between me and Humphrey and that's what some people don't understand.

"They think you can only have a relationship with dogs, cats and domestic animals. But I have a relationship with the most dangerous animal in Africa."

But Els's wife, Louise, a pharmacist, expressed misgivings, and the hippo had caused trouble before. South African media reported earlier this year that a 52-year-old man and his seven-year-old grandson spent two hours in a tree after being chased by Humphrey while canoeing on the river that passes through the farm. Els finally tempted the hippo away with an apple while the pair were rescued by paramedics.

Humphrey was also blamed for killing calves belonging to Els's business partner. The animal also frequently broke out of its enclosure and chased golfers at a local golf club.

Els, who also kept giraffe and rhino, claimed the sound of his voice would lure Humphrey back home. He regarded the hippo as "loveable" and a "gentle giant".

Armed with giant canine teeth, hippos are said to kill more people each year than lions, elephants, leopards, buffalo and rhinos combined. They can move at speeds of up to 30mph despite weighing up to three tonnes.

"Man with 3' metal bar starts breaking windows at fast food restaurant. Police are called and respond to said fast food restaurant. As said police arrive, they see customers fleeing the restaurant, followed by said man with said 3' metal bar. Said police order said man to drop said 3' metal bar. Said man does not. Said police tazer said man with said 3' metal bar. Said man pulls out tazer barbs. Said man winds up to swing said metal bar at said police officer who deployed said tazer. Then? People with guns do what people with guns do when they're being attached by people with 3' metal bars. They shoot that muthaf*cka dead in what can only be described at the most justified shooting in the history of justified shootings. Kudos to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department!"

only watched first minute or so, and of course with not knowing any backstory here its hard to form an accurate opinion on this, but I'd say that shooting was hardly justifiable...that looks more like a re-bar bending tool than a crowbar imho, and with that many cops around they could have stopped that little douchebag from hitting anyone with it without shooting him...if he had a gun or big knife/sword that would be different as then he would have been an actual threat to the safety of these lazy officers.
most of you know I am not anti-gun by any means...I see this type of video as nothing more than support for the anti-gun fanatics because the cops took the easy way out of a situation that could have been handled differently...spare me the crap about the cop going home at night because there is no fucking way that kid would have killed any of those cops with that 'crowbar' or whatever he's holding...
