It appears too many of you have requested accounts and then complained when a confirmation email was then sent to you. As such AOL is blocking us from sending confirmation emails to AOL accounts (or password reset emails). They do give a 20 step procedure to unblock but who's to say more wonderful AOL users wont freak out when they get the emails they REQUESTED from us and ask AOL to re-block us. So if your a AOL user (good god WHY!!!) you'll need to sign-up with a 3rd party email provider to create accounts on the 613 network.

Doesn't AOL stand for America's Online Losers?

Probably. Several years ago we had to block a massive amount of AOL owned IP space because of problem users. It was something in the league of 20 x /16 IP blocks (or 1.3 million IPs in human language) just to get rid of them.

It really was quite annoying.

It appears DK's request to unblock us was denied, because we don't OWN the IP space we use, we're just renting it, so our upstream provider would have to request the unblock on our behalf.

Fuck that, I'd rather just not have AOL users.

My experience has been that AOL editorially decries that they hate porn of all types and do everything they can to inconvenience users from accessing it. I guess they wish they could get an even bigger piece of the action..... (A Sort of "Net Non-neutrality uber alles" maybe....)

The 613's, true to their charters, continue to be as much fun as you can have on the internet without your wallet. That and maybe "TheOnion" site....

There's way too much right wing spin in the politics here, but like the folks who don't like the midget orgy porn on the "red" side of 613, if I see something terminally stupid, one mouse click sends it on it's way to oblivion...
