I've tried about 10 times to upload a couple of pictures but it doesn't seem to be working. I get a yellow exclamation point symbol over a page thingy in the lower left and the green bar moves really slow. It just kicks me back to the upload page and when I check the image isn't there.

The only thing I have changed since I last uploaded pictures is I set it to promt me on cookies and I block most of them since I hate getting tracking cookies. I don't think uploading images has anything to do with cookie settings does it?

I was going to upload my picture, but for some reason I have been unable to do it.

are they bitmaps or jpegs? bitmaps won't load while jpegs will.

Cookies on the site are only used in reguards to being logged in. As fossil said bmp's wont work on the site, really just gif's and jpg's.

You could try a different browser and see if that fixes the problem.

If you don't have a secondary browser installed you could try flushing your cache/deleting all your cookies (just in relation to the site if your clever enough) closing your browser, saying out loud 'ok this will work', starting your browser, loading [www.plus613.net] clicking the gallery, logging in, clicking 'add photo' and trying to upload making sure you give a descriptive title.. 'Lexx' wont work.. 'This is a picture of Lexx' will..

That said.. everyone else seems to be able to upload.. i haven't changed anything to not enable you to upload.. however the site does have load spikes where a upload could in theory fail but if you waited a few mins and tried again it'd work.

Google if your reading this.. go on.. buy us.. i'll sell to you cheap.. just a million + options..

I cleaned my browser cache and used longer titles and it is still doing the same thing. I can't seem to get any pictures to upload and I can't figure out why. I guess I can try downloading Firefox and see if it works using that.

One thing I'd like to see added,...

Some kind of confirmation page, even if it flashes for just a second so you know your picture actually made it on to the sight instead of just bouncing you right back to the upload screen. The image doesn't always show up right away so you aren't sure if it got added. I think I've seen some double posts because of this.

when you successfully load an image, and it takes you back to the upload screen, there is a "Thanks! The photo was successfully uploaded" message at the top...

I downloaded firefox and it won't let me upload with that either. It did give me a warning popup when I clicked add image about non secure data being sent or something like that but I clicked yes on it.

I don't know what's wrong because I uploaded a couple of pictures to photobucket a few days ago and that worked fine.

Nope I fix computers for a living and I have seen the problems Zone alarm and Norton can cause.

I use AVG because it's free and I've had it remove or "heal" viruses that all the other virus scanners I ran were unable to deal with.

Other than that I don't have anything else running and I doubt it is being caused by my wireless router. I keep the things in startup down to a minimum and run spyware scans at least once a week.

I noticed the only thing that happens is the little green progress bar moves really slow and I have both lights on nonstop indicating data being sent and recieved. I think it is timing out or something. What is the max limit on picutre filesizes?

Anything under a Mb should be accepted, otherwise I say it would be a firewall issue.
In the old Plus613 days you could upload massive images but dial-up users complained that it took a week to upload the gallery page. Maybe DK restricts it now?

I'd check to see if your firewall, router and then ISP is causing problems. I have a router around here that causes all images to red X or half load. did a factory update and it is still a POS except when it is in wireless mode. So I just built a LINUX router and made it in command of DHCP and stacit ip's on the intranet and then it is firewalled to the Internet. dun no? but if IE and Mozzilla are experienceing the same issues that usually tells me you are getting traffic jams or dropped packets somewhere else. Talk to shaDEz about charter cable sometime. they do weird stuff to thier customers. If your ISP is the cause. try hacking into a neighbors wireless see if that will let you Upload

It's a filesize issue. The pic I wanted to post of me is a 2400x1900 scanned image that's 2.41 megs and the other is an animated .gif/video that's 3.3 megs.

I think I found the problem.

I guess I need to fire up my old PSP 7 that I haven't used in ages and do a resize.

People still use dialup? I downloaded Windows Media Player 11 last night and it peaked out at over 1.5 MB/sec.

when I had FIOS I was getting 100mb per min. a gigabyte every 10 mins. was nice and the beauty of it is that it will be again as soon as they put fibe in the dump I live in now.

I don't have a fancy fiber optic connection, T1, T3 or anything like that.

All I have is Comcast High Speed Internet for $40 a month. It was a 3 meg cable connection when I got it, but Brighthouse and Comcast compete alot for business here in this area. Roadrunner went to 4 meg so Comcast goes to 5. Last I heard it was a 6 meg connection and they put a speed booster on it that kicks in for the first part of the download so if you get a good server to download from it can go really fast.

Images are never really resized (excluding thumbs). I just stick them into a html 'frame' to make sure things fit on the pages. If you right click and go 'view image' you can see the full image at all it's wonder.. basically anything over i think 600 pixels will have it's width set to 600 and the height to whatever will display the image without it skewing.. We do have a filesize limit however. I forget what it is and i'm too lazy to check.. a 1meg jpg is huge but anything larger is just silly..

On a successful upload of a image a big bold 'You have successfully uploaded a image. Thanks' (or something like that) is added to the top of the upload page.

Having an entire page that confirms that the image was uploaded would just annoy people who like to upload a few images at a time.

yeah shadez, when i had comcast i had to reset the modem every week or so. other than that i had no probs with it.

That's odd you have to reset your modems so often. I've heard people in other areas cursing Comcast and saying they have had a lot of problems with them. I guess where they have a monopoly I can see how that can happen. The way things are here my area is Comcast, but a town 10 miles down the road will be Brighthouse. I don't know how they split it all up but it seems to have spurred a "we're the fastest" competition. When something like that happens it's always good for the consumers.

I have hardly ever had trouble with mine unless some idiot construction worker cuts a main cable line or there is a major storm. I have ran my little Motorola Surfboard modem for months at a time without having to ever reset it or even have an outage. When ever the cable does go out they seem to be right on it and it's rarely out for more than a few hours. I even call them up when it is out and get credited for a day because it was down.

The only thing I seem to have problems with is needing to reset my Hawking wireless router every once in a while and occasionally the onboard network port on my Asus KV8 SE Deluxe will quit working but I just disable and re-enable it and that fixes it.

The DSL I have out here luckily has given me almost no problems in 3yrs now. I've never had to reset the modem and the only issue seems to come from some drunk toothless sister lover smackin a pole now and then and knockin out the service completely, but never for more than a cuppla hours

But ... lately I have seen my speed drop dramatically & I'm gonna hafta get up Verizons ass about that

Ahhhhh .... I DO remember havin an issue with Verizon and never got any resolution to it either come to think of it !

I was on their site one night and noticed they were offerin DSL for about 1/2 what I am payin for it, so I went into my account and tried accessing the various "packages" they have available only to find I couldn't get there ... at all !!!

So ... I emailed their tech support and found the reason is their site is only fully functional when using Internet Explorer !!!!

I emailed back and forth with 'em a few times and the upshot of it all was "We're sorry sir (sound familiar PLP ?), but unless you use IE there is no solution we can offer in you accessibility issues with our site". My last response was that as a linux user (<- oh really ... what's that mrkim ??) I had no need for nor intention of installin the buggiest browser currently in use to view their site!
