Put his face with "Windows 8 sucks" everywhere you can so at the very least they correct Windows 8 just as a public relations ploy.

My 9 year old desktop with XP finally died and I reluctantly got a laptop with windows 8.1. It's different, but not bad. If I can work with it, anyone can. I also use Vista quite a bit on another machine which I pretty easily adapted to. Quit your whining, ya babies.

I use multiple operating systems daily. Mac OS X, Windows 7, Windows XP, Linux, Solaris, AIX .. The laptop I'm writing this on is a Macbook Air, my desktop is Win 7, my work laptop is Win XP etc.

I find all have their positives and negatives, but I have tried Windows 8 and simply hated it. I hate everything being full screen (I have a massive, high resolution monitor, wtf do I want Internet Explorer to take the entire thing up? This site occupies about a 3 inch strip down the middle of a lot of white space).. realistically I think Windows 7 is by far the best Windows release.

Still, they're trying. Hopefully Windows 9 will be better. As much as people slagged Vista off, I didn't mind it either. 8.1 is definitely better than 8, and as soon as Microsoft realises I don't want a touch screen on my desktop the better.

I haven't tried windows 8 yet but I need to get a computer with it so I can learn it. From what I have seen thus far it does not seem very appealing but if I am going to work on others computers I will need to learn it. I would love to have a touch screen on my desktop for occasional use but mouse and keyboard is my main tool. I am using windows 7 and like it a lot. I am dreading the day Microsoft stops supporting it.

My son configured it for me so I don't have the touch screen and after startup I can click on one of the start page tiles to get to where it's very similar to the other Widows systems I've used. I was very reluctant to use Internet Explorer again but tried it because it's so integrated into the machine (Toshiba Satellite) and it works much better than it did on my previous machines. As with all systems there are things to not like but there are a lot of positives here and I'm very satisfied with the experience after 1 1/2 months working with it. Perhaps my lack of tech savvy has worked out to be a plus in this situation, that and having a kid who knows what I like and set it up that way. I'm just saying it can be done in a way that is not completely foreign to those who've used other MS systems and I can't knock it based on my personal experience.

I acquired a Windows 7 HD and have plans to install it into a machine in my LR to interface w/my Yamaha receiver so I can access some of it's tastier bits on the software side of its abilities and am dreading it immensely.

Having been completely out of the Winblows realm for 3+yrs now I'm not looking forward to learning the quirks of an OS I totally despise and wouldn't even consider it were it not for my love of pristine music and some of the neat tricks my receiver is capable of while using W7 as a software enabler for my home entertainment system (*butt*)

I have a lot of experiences with a lot of different operating systems. You use whatever you need to for whatever reasons you have, just like everything else in the world. If you don't want to use a Stanley screwdriver then use a Craftsman, who the hell cares?

You are right Blah, use whatever you like as long as it works for you. I have always said there are no obsolete computers as long as they are working for you and the same goes for operating systems, as long as it works the way you like they are all good. Some people hate Microsoft and some hate Macs just like some hate WalMart and others don't. Just do what you want as long as it's legal it doesn't matter what others think.

I didn't know that Crescent makes screwdrivers. Ok. Wow. Considering the context of the comment I made it doesn't matter anyway. The more I know I don't necessarily give a shit about but thanks anyway.

Microsoft, just like all of the other technical conglomerates get too big for their britches and start trying to create markets and pre-layer their futures into their current spiel..... kinda like brain washing.... touch screen desktops with big colorful squares (kindergarten like) and human grease smears aren't a good marketing ploy. The corporate angle is a another whole debacle, most will not even touch W8.

Instead of innovating they go in the opposite direction and just try to look cool to the dumb reactive type buyers.

I use to be able to dig pretty deep into my XP and knew what I was doing but, it's almost like Microsoft was TRYING to throw up walls on this one.

Again, all of this change these huge companies come up with are not actual improvements, just marketing..... hhmmmmm... just like government does.

Just deleted an account I had with Youtube yesterday for about 6 years, new Youtube channels still sucks, Google+ sucks, "new" Yahoo mail sucks, the only reason I still have one with them is they will allow you to revert back to a simple older type and....... blahblahblah.....

Everything is market driven and I think Microsoft is trying to reach all the idiots who don't even know how to turn on a computer and have no desire to learn. I see it all the time at the fleamarket, when I have a computer for sale the ones who look at them the most are the ones who know nothing about them. Trying to tell them about the computer is like ramming your head into a brick wall, it does no good at all and they wouldn't know value it it bit them in the ass.
