I spent 2 1/2 decades guessing what it was. How long should I let this go on? Hmmmmmmmmmm.
It's an animal not usually associated with North America but turns out it actually evolved here, spread elsewhere to places where it lives on today, while going extinct here; the lack of association with this continent is what threw me off. Since Florida has been in and out of the sea many times over the eons I even thought it might have been a sea creature but it is a land animal, a mammal.

That confirms it then. It's from a Ladybug!
Actually your clues point to a Limur but I reckon the bone's too big for that. How about a Giant Lemur?

Nah, the acestors of lemurs came from Africa and they evolved only on Madagascar. These critters evolved here and remain in this hemisphere though not this continent. They also have relatives that evolved here and made it to Africa.

Our mate GAK67 is the winner! I never even considered a llama as everyone knows they're indigenous to South America but it turns out that they and their camelid buddies evolved in North America and spread all over the world before becoming extinct here about 10,000 or 12,000 years ago. An interesting coincidence is that for a few years my sister raised alpacas, a close relative of the llama, all the while with me in possesion of this artifact and not knowing from what it came.

GAK wins an all expense paid trip to his refrigerator where he can take out his favorite beverage and toast himself!
