Haven't seen her in much since then but her part in American Beauty (one of my all time faves!) certainly put her on a lotta guys radar, as it also did with Thora Birch.

That movie appeals to me on so many levels : cast, direction, cinematography and plot. And .... sadly I think it's a pretty fair example of the dysfunction and angst within a large segment of families here, which makes it another fine example of art imitating life winking

Yeah but a red mustang? Too cliche, or is that the real American dream?

Hmm, should I edit my comment and try to look cool?
Nah, I haven't seen that movie in a while and I only remember the car as "iconic" American steel.
Close enough.

I "think" it was a GTO, but I'm a little rusty on my classic muscle cars, especially GM manufactured rides. But really 'berto, after all the title was AMERICAN Beauty so it would seem a classic muscle car from here would only be a suitable choice doncha think?

BTW, I would have drooled over a Pantera from that era a lot more than an old Goat, but that's just me grinning smiley

Probably the director only wanted a "red sports car" to symbolise the midlife crisis.
A COrvette, GTO, Mustang or Camaro (or several others) would have all done the job.

Your all wrong!!!

Carolyn Burnham: Uh, whose car is that out front?
Lester Burnham: Mine. 1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!

I laughed so hard at that part.

Great movie, right up until the ending.
