I posted this because this site went at least 2 days without an upload and I wanted to see if everyone was dead or something. Glad to see everyone is alive a just as volatile as always.

Nobody can break into my home while i am gone and steal my gun because it is always with me anytime I leave the house. I am more worried about someone stealing my dogs when I am gone, they can have anything else in the house.

How many criminals are concerned about the gun laws on the books now and will the be concerned about any new ones created in the future? Magic will be the only way to get guns out of the criminals hands, laws never will.

Nobody can break into my house and steal my gun either. But then none of my neighbours have guns, so I don't feel any need to have one.

I have lived for over 60 years without ever needing a gun. I don't give a shit if other people have them as long as they aren't pointing them at me.

But what could you do if they do point them at you?

I don't worry about my neighbors having guns, it is the criminal low lifes I worry about having guns and the laws do nothing to keep them out of the criminals hands. Maybe the police should do their jobs unarmed and the military as well? Just because a very minor few use these tools improperly everyone should be punished for it?

I don't think gun ownership is a remotely good thing, thus I don't feel at all punished.

Do you really think people are being mugged and attacked by the people they hang around with? Maybe it is your neighbors or friends who break into your home and rob you. I guess women who get rapped are just hanging around with the wrong crowd then.

What are you trying to do, scare me into buying a gun?

Concerning your rape comment all I can say is, fuck your judgmental bullshit.

I don't particularly care for guns, I don't own or use one, and I don't hang around with people who do when they are using them. It's my choice for my reasons and if you have a problem with that then fuck you.

I don't mind if you don't like them or want to own one but don't condemn those who do. Your statement "I don't hang around with people who are likely to point a gun at me." indicated you think people have a choice not to run into criminals. Unless you are a shut-in and never leave your home then there is always a chance you may accidentally run into trouble. Even staying in your home there is always a chance trouble may come to you. Making new laws do nothing to get guns out of the hands of criminals, who never obey the law anyway, and only keep guns out of the hands of those who obey the law.

The response time for the police to arrive is the biggest problem. I have read that the average response time is around 20 minutes and a lot can happen in those 20 minutes. Even in my small town the response time is about 10 minutes. I have a police scanner and I have noticed the response times involved in most calls is over 10 minutes. It would be up to us to protect ourselves and if someone comes into my home I want the ability to defend myself and my family. The police do the best they can but they cannot be everywhere at once.

I have raised 4 kids to adulthood and raised them with proper gun training and a healthy respect for all life. Not one of them has ever used a gun improperly or even threatened another human life with one. One of my sons own 4 firearms and goes to the range frequently. He also goes hunting but only shoots what he will eat. My 2 daughters know how to use guns but don't currently own any but their husbands do and they were required to show me their gun knowledge before they were allowed to marry my girls. The problem with the school shooting is not the availability of guns but the failure of parents to instill a proper respect for life in their children. Some people blame video games and movies for their children's violent behavior but I blame those parents for not teaching their kids right from wrong. It is so much easier to try and get rid of the movies, video games and guns then attack the real problem of raising our children. The government will never tackle that problem.

If the government did "tackle that problem" you'd bitch about them interfering in personal lives in that way.

We might bitch about it but it would be the right issue to address instead of laws that don't seem to apply to the criminals.

I believe the idea of gun controls is to use them as methods to try preventing the criminals from getting the guns, not to take guns away from non-criminals or prevent them from getting guns. There is a chain of handling from the manufacturer to the seller to the customer. Somehow there has to be a way to stop the guns from getting to the wrong people so security and checks have to be in place for that to even try to happen. The supply chain is full of holes that need to be plugged. I'm sure all the think tanks working on this problem would love to hear from you if you have any viable ideas they haven't thought of already.

How about trying something that might actually prevent crime. If crime were eliminated completely then there would be no need for guns. Maybe we should look into doing away with money? If there was no need for money then there would be no greed or envy then people will not take from others.

Just because it is hard doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. If all the effort to take guns away from people were placed on trying to change human nature then maybe we wouldn't need guns any longer. Maybe someone should invent the replicator.

"Just because it is hard doesn't mean it shouldn't be done."

It may also just be impossible.

"If all the effort to take guns away from people were placed on trying to change human nature"

Religion and governments have been trying to do just that throughout all known history and they have used weapons to try doing so. How well is that working out?

"then maybe we wouldn't need guns any longer."

I don't need a gun.

"Maybe someone should invent the replicator."

Maybe someone will. If all the effort that goes into making weaponry was placed on technological advancements for the sake of humanity perhaps it would have been by now.

If we can't change humanity then we need more police protection. Since we can't seem to do that then it is up to us to protect ourselves until the police can get there.

You are a part of humanity, the only part of humanity that you can directly change, but you do have influence over others, whether you know it or not. As small as each person's contribution to change may be, just like pennies or drops of water it adds up. Instead of wishing for others to change to suit you, work on yourself. Become aware of how your own attitudes and behavior and speech affect those around you. Yes, you are powerful and exert a meaningful influence on those you interact with. Take the "Wake up people" to heart and start with yourself.
