Yeah, I shot an Israeli Military .50 Desert Eagle over 20 years ago at an indoor range and..... DAMN!... it's like shooting a hand-cannon, it will pierce a 'bullet-proof' vest. It's got a gas-chamber built ito it just to help with the kick.

It would be fun to borrow a .50 for the day and take it out and see what it can shoot through.

Here are a couple of gun repeats for the people that haven't seen them before.

Life is Good.... again.

Classic .50 in the earmuffs.

I don't know how much they cost, .50, but that's the main reasons I just got a .22, $$$!

999.00 not really to high they will get that price. I sold a Kel Tech 9mm which sells for 265.00 new for 300.00 2 weeks ago. Before that I sold a High Point 40cal which sells new for 150.00 and I got 300.00 for it. The value of any item is merely what someone will be willing to pay for it. One person may not pay 2 dollars for something but someone else may be willing to pay 200 dollars for the same thing. I have sold several guns and as long as I don't get to desperate to sell I can get the price I want for just about anything.

pawn shops do normally pay more for hand guns than they should because they know that they can sell them easy "under the table" to whoever wants them bypassing the normal rules etc...but the history of said guns are not documented at all, and leave alot to be desired as far as maintenance and care. i never buy pawned guns of any "caliber", only from individuals that i can see their collections and how well they take care of their weapons.

The pawn shops where you live must get away with murder. Pawn shops here are watched closely by the police. Even one of our gun stores was shut down by the feds for improper deals. Private sales here at the local fleamarket is less regulated but still occasionally checked by police for stolen guns and items.

i think the thing that anti gun people don't understand is that the general population are not the ones that need to be watched like a hawk, it's the "exportation" of these weapons.

The general population are not the ones who use guns for crime, it is the criminals. Criminals will always get guns no matter what the laws are, it;s just harder for us to get them for protection.

@jgoins: Are you deliberately lying or simply ignorant?

"Criminals will always get guns no matter what the laws are" So by your 'logic' every criminal in every jurisdiction in the world has a gun. This patently isn't true. Even if you tone it back a bit and say that every criminal in every jurisdiction can easily get a gun, it is still wrong.

Stop trying to purport your beliefs as facts. They are only facts in your imagination.

he's basically right, there will always be a black market.

edit; but that works for the intended legal usage as well as the intended illegal usage.

His comment was that criminals "will always get guns". He didn't say it would be possible for them to get guns, but that they would get them. Yes, a determined criminal could possibly get a gun in any jurisdiction in the world through a black market or smuggling, but that doesn't mean they will. In some jurisdictions many criminals don't bother because it is too difficult. Therefore it is not just harder for the general population, but for the criminals as well.

I do wish you were intelligent enough for me to not have to spell everything out.

Try this for starters:
NZ Police

Some relevant quotes are:
    * In overall terms firearms play only a small part in inter-personal violence in New Zealand, being used in about 1.7 percent of all violent crime.
    * handguns are used in crime to a greater extent than their proportion of the national armoury
    * Over the past 15 years firearm crime has increased at a slightly lower rate but generally in sympathy with violence overall.
    * In terms of relative levels of firearm crime, our gun crime rate is much less than the United States, but comparable with those in Canada and Australia, the Canadian figures for gun homicide being somewhat higher, probably because of its relatively high handgun population.

Clearly you are talking through your arse and didn't even read what I posted. It was from the NZ Police, not the media. And why shouldn't I take it from NZ - a country with tight gun control laws - when I am talking about the effects of tight gun control laws.

I had picked up that in some ways you were stupid, I just didn't realise the depth of it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.... there's still violent crime all over the place there, they are just not allowed guns, it just goes to show... guns don't kill people, people kill people! winking

@ Mach: So what you are saying then is that as gun ownership numbers have no effect on violent crime numbers owing guns is a futile exercise for personal protection as you are just as likely to be a victim of violent crime whether there are large numbers of guns in the population or not.

Unfortunately your argument is not backed up by evidence.

So Gak you are saying that in New Zealand criminals can't get guns because of the strict laws.

You are arguing semantics with me over my statement that criminals will always get guns and ignoring the substance of the statement that if criminals want to get them they will get them.

I would rather own a gun and never need it than to need one and not have it.

i just had the funniest dream last night, and am trying to decide if it has relevance to this thread. my cousin had 2 identical twin donkeys and a Brahma bull when we were kids. all but one loved to take the kids for rides around the pasture. the one that didn't like being ridden was one of the donkeys only you could never tell which one it was without jumping on and taking off for a ride. when you tried to kick her or go to the whip, she'd turn around and try to bite you in the foot so i would crack her between the ears with the whip and she'd straighten out until you kicked her again she'd start buckin' like crazy. have you ever tried riding a buckin' donkey? it's like that fat chick in college you plugged because you were too drunk to score one of her hot friends. you just couldn't quite bring yourself to doin' her, so you flipped her over and stuck her in the ass without warning balls deep and held on tight. smiling bouncing smiley

@jgoins: No, what I am saying is that the strict gun laws here, particularly relating to hand guns, mean that only the most determined criminals obtain them and they are not used in crimes of opportunity.

So then you think those criminals who obtain guns use them for a specific crime then just toss them. You don't believe they keep them and carry them around with them until an opportunity arises to use them. Concealed weapons are like snakes, for every one you might see you passed by ten you didn't see.
