What if:

Science is the discovery of what God created and evolution is the tool He used to make it come about. cool
smiley

Why:

Does science have to deny God? confused smiley

Does faith have to deny science? confused smiley

okay, this is a little different from the other in that the faith appears under science instead of on the right, so i'll let you off with a warning this time
haha

but either way this is a good one to repost more often so it doesn't get burried under a heap of ron paul crap
i will check those docu's out later when i am not so drunk and stoned

Happy New Years 08 to all
this is the year to stop studying the possibity change and actually do it!

gods were made up to explain things people didn't understand in the earliest history
science is actualy going beyond such a simple answer, the struggle to understand truthfully the nature and apply what is learned to further that understanding
simple faith alone doesn't allow for that
i geuss you could think of science as a smaller container than religion in a sense in that religion basicly allows more freedom because you don't have to analyze the facts so much... like saying how did the sky just light up with litening? answer: god did it
or you can say anything to explain, but the problem is you fail to truely understand why there is lightening, which is(and i'm no scientist myself and can only very broadly explain it) to do with static electricty
and then of course there is the deeper question related to that which answers "god made static electricity"
and i guess that encourages real scientist(again, i'm no real scientist lol) to challenge that religious answer and thus uncover how that works exactly...
the problem is not necessarily with religion, it's just that it is always being used by its leaders to try and supress science... and i'm not sugesting that there are no athiests stupidly and quite fascistly attempting to supress religion as well
being a marxist-leninist-maoist i am of course athiest because everything i encounter that i don't understand i pursue more knowledge of that by scientific method instead of just jumping to a much easier conclusion, but in my discovery i show other people so that they can improve on it and further the development and of course i encounter alot of people that are supressed by the old way still and find myself constantly struggling with them
i don't tell people that they can't have their god, rather i just show them that their god is not really there and when they open their eyes to it, if they choose, they see that and cease to rely on this crutch that faith is and join me in pusuit of real truth and assist in improving the understanding of it

An interesting set of ideas and explanations above shaDEz, and when I get home to my main computer this evening I'll forward along some links to a long conference given by a quite distinguished group of scientists relating to the concepts of "God vs Science" that seems quite relevant in such a discussion.

One thought for now though is that while science has no inherent need or function to disprove religon, as doing so can never validate science, religon seemingly does have a definite need and functions on many levels to disprove, disavow or downplay scientific logic or findings winking

1st off, let me extend a thanks to my friend fossil who sent me a link through which I found this series of lengthy videos as I wove my way through many facets of what I found there. For that I am absolutely in your debt and extend a friendly smileys with beer

Following is a link to a series of 10 - 1+ hour long videos that stemmed from a scientific conference called "Beyond Belief, Science, Religion, Reason And Survival" which took place in 2006 : [openflv.com]

I know many of you find the idea of investing 10+ hours in studying how a group of scientists view the concepts of theology a bit cumbersome but I assure you it is certainly thought provoking and at least for myself a very clinical approach to the whole ideological debate over theology vs science.

So .... to those out there lacking faith in the conceptual validity of a personal god, and also for those of you who view themselves as people of faith I invite you to explore this series to further round out your own personal knowledge. This is of course the truest path to enlightenment which I always embrace with vigor thumbs

when I was 4 and needed a friend to talk to I invented an imajinary one, Mummy told me that my friend didnt exist. 30 years on people are telling me that the imaginary friend who goes by the name of god does exist and i should talk to him in my hour of need ?????

my house was flooded and when I claimed on the insurance they told me it was an act of god and insurance wasnt covered. Prove that god did it was my reply. I was paid out the following week.

PS there only jokes none of the above realy happened and no houses were actually damaged in the making of this comment ha ha
