state secrets than ever before, a deficit that's totally out of control, we've
started two bloody wars, opened Pandora's box in the MidEast, and alienated all
our allies, and have inflamed religious fanaticism in this country and others.
Oh, and we've lost New Orleans, we keep having blackouts across the country, and
we're spending all our money on corporate welfare, or throwing it into the
sinkhole that is Iraq.
Nice job republicans! Can't wait to see how they'll shred the Constitution
further! Exciting!

Madmex, if you and your parents are here legally then more power to you but if
not then just get the fuck out. Why should we allow the Mexicans who cmoe here
illegally stay here? They leave their country because they can't they can't
make a decent wage so why should we let them stay here and drag this country
down to Mexican levels. They should go home and fix their own country instead
of running away. Maybe life isn't so bad in Mexico and maybe they are here as a
preinvasion force instead of people looking for work.

Mexicans don't understand the word "illegal" because:
(a) When paying their gardeners, nannies, busboys, and factory workers in cash
(and forgetting to withhold payroll taxes), U.S. employers don't seem to
understand the word "illegal," so why should Mexicans?
(b) The Anglo-American trappers and traders whom you and I were taught to admire
as tough, self-sufficient frontiersmen and pioneers were among the American
Southwest's first illegals. Who are you calling illegal, gabacho?
(c) Presidente Bush's proposal to offer amnesty and a guest-worker program to
all illegal immigrants—a move designed to appease his supporters in the
business community—means even Republicans don't understand the word.
(d) Whether they buy a fake passport or take a citizenship oath, Mexicans will
never be more than wetbacks in the eyes of many Americans, so why bother
applying for residency?
(e) The Seattle Times stylebook reportedly requires its reporters to describe as
"undocumented workers" the men and women you call "illegal."

("Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe

But the real answer is the word itself. "Illegal" is an English word;
Mexicans speak Spanish-—yet you never hear Mexicans whine that their bosses
