No matter how one chooses to couch it, it's still all comes down to a matter of
individual choice.
If a chic in a mini skirt chooses to plop a heel behind her head in a bar/club
should she be surprised someone might capture that image, which could then lead
to it being posted somewhere or even in multiple places on the 'net? Only if
she's been livin under a rock for the last 10+ years.
Similarly, if a chic decides to make some quick cash, whether as a one off deal
or in hopes of becoming the next internet pron phenom, that's still a
choice.
The idea that either scenario leads to the events being plastered wall to wall
across the web should come as a surprise to no one with a few brain cells kickin
around upstairs, but ... had there never been a choice made to become involved
in either of the above scenarios (and the myriad of other stupid shit people do
that winds up on the web), it could never have wound up there at all.
Attempting to deny ones actions and choices have consequences only plays well to
the concept of victim hood. Reality dictates it all leads back to those choices,
plain and simple

The advent of instant pictures beginning with Polaroid and continuing through
digital cameras and phones of today make for instant gratification and the
internet creates a forum for becoming famous, even if only in one's mind.
People want to feel that they are bigger or more important than the little
section of the world they live in. They judge their live by the amount of
followers they can generate not the amount of real friends they may have.

I guess in short younger people today need a lot of validation. That is a need
I never understood, I wasn't raised that way. Right or wrong I was raised to be
independent and not need any friends or their validation. I have friends but
can survive perfectly well without any and alone. My kids were raised the same
way but they also need validation from the internet and I don't know why they
feel the need for it.

Jgoin I'm guessing if your kids weren't exposed to others dysfunctions etc
they wouldn't feel a need to be doing the same things as them.
That's one thing that has not changed over the years.
You have all sorts of peer pressures in teen groups, from drinking alcohol to
cigs, dope and harder drugs
right thru to car theft, rape, robbery or something that starts out as harmless
as a selfie with their clothes on till
someone put the mental blackmail on them to post selfies with no clothes on and
it only gets worse from there.
However, the peer pressure can come from whoever's closest to them in the
neighborhood
not just from schools or other groups. It's like that old saying of
"keeping up with the Jones's"

Which is why I never had any "friends" only associates. I never
cared what the "Jones"" have so keeping up with them is not an
issue.
