When I was 17 I sold a pile of shit to Cash Converters. Aside from them requiring no ID (and I was underage anyway) which I'm sure isn't legal, they paid me $180 for what I would've valued $20 worth of trinkets and crap including a scientific calculator that didn't work.

What a great business model smiling

I'm guessing they ask for ID these days, especially from kids walking in and dumping a shoebox full of crap on them ..

Pawn shops around here ask for ID because everything they take in has to be cleared by the police department. Even if you sell games to Game Stop or Game Exchange you have to supply an ID, that's how I got back some 40 video games stolen from me from the fleamarket and the guy who stole them went to jail.
