Excellent point but shut up 'cause when the morons figure this out they'll be after our hunting rifles too.

They will figure it out and they will go after hunting rifles also anyway. The ultimate goal of anti-gun people is the total removal of all guns in the world. Since they can't magically remove all guns they would like to create laws to inhibit law abiding citizens from owning any guns. They don't care that criminals never obey those laws anyway. In some states it is easier for a criminal to get a gun than it is for law abiding citizens to get one legally. All it take is money for a criminal to buy guns stolen from anywhere including military armories.

Then why is one model marketed by the manufacturer as a "ranch rifle" and the other as a "tactical weapon"? What purpose does a collapsible stock serve? What purpose does a flash suppressor serve?

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Are we at last brought to such an humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? Where is the difference between having our arms under our own possession and under our own direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?

"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government."

You can't be that deluded.
Better buy yourself a couple of stealth bombers then.

A well armed militia will keep a government in check.
Not well armed individuals.

Try raising an armed militia here 'Berto and see where that gets you .... on a No Fly list, on a domestic terrorist watch list, nearly unemployable, yeah it'll get you lots of things, just none of them beneficial to yourself or cause.

Plain and simple, once a citizenry is unarmed, their ability to defend themselves from oppression by governmental tyranny is merely whimsical at best (*horse*)

The movie Red Dawn may be fiction but it is not too far fetched or outside the realm of possibility. If the government knows everyone who legally owns guns then anyone knows who legally owns guns. We are not as secure in this country as people seem to think.

I prefer to own guns which do not have paperwork associated with them which is legal in Arkansas right now. Here we can buy and sell our own privately owned guns without any paperwork to show the transaction if you are not a business.

Hopefully, soon, we here in Arkansas will also join most the nation and have laws which allow the open carrying of firearms in public.

I wonder why they didn't mention ammo capacity? Is it because you can kill 30 6 year olds with the bottom one but you have to stop and reload the top one several times to do that?

I think the "ranch" model can use the same magazines as the "tactical" model. That was the point of the original post. The tactical weapon has features that make it easier to transport and conceal. The collapsing stock and material means it takes up less space in transport and is lighter weight, the muzzle flash suppressor means it makes it more difficult to see where the shot came from.

So it's useful for hunting why? Do the elk see the flash and run? I'm pretty sure they'd do that from the sound. Why do you need a hunting rifle to be easily concealable? If an animal sees you coming with a gun is it more likely to freak out than if you're unarmed?

Actually, no advocate of gun control is claiming that the first rifle is OK.
It's all to do with the magazine capacity.
But let's not allow reality and truth interfere with the dreams of the "well regulated militia".

Mmmmmm, beeeer.
The reserve militia or unorganized militia, also created by the Militia Act of 1903 which presently consist of every able-bodied man of at least 17 and under 45 years of age who are not members of the National Guard or Naval Militia.(that is, anyone who would be eligible for a draft). Former members of the armed forces up to age 65 are also considered part of the "unorganized militia" per Sec 313 Title 32 of the US Code.

Basically if it came down to having to use a "militia" to take back our government from any entity holding it illegally then anyone who can hold a guns and shoot will be fighting anyway. Even if we didn't have guns we could still put up a resistance, it would just be easier if we already had guns to get guns. A resistance can be put up with knives if done properly and guns can be acquired that way, but it is easier to start up with guns, because most unarmed people are cowards.

Thank you Blah. I just bought a gun a couple of weeks ago, before that I only carried a knife. If I could afford it I would own 30 or 40 guns and thousands of rounds of ammo.

I have a lever action .22 close at hand at home along with a couple of single shot shotguns put away in the closet but I'm thinking about buying a Diamondback 9mm or 380 which are small pistols manufactured right here in the sunshine state. Every wekk I'm hearing about home invasion robberies not too far from here and though I'm not really afraid I'll be damned if I'm going to go down without a fight. I'm not looking for a fight but will fight if it comes down to it. I advise people who don't want guns to keep handy cans of that wasp spray that shoots twenty feet or so; that's what I do when I'm on my bicycle to deal with dogs that want to fuck with me.

There was a Winchester lever action .22 for sale this weekend at the fleamarket for 250 bucks, that seemed a little high to me but it did look good. I would rather have handguns for self protection but a long gun would be better than nothing.

What is an unloaded handgun in the house?
A rock.

My .22 is a Marlin with the gold trigger I bought from a roommate I had over 30 years ago. Paperwork, what paperwork. I don't know how old it is but it works well and I can hit what I'm aiming at.
