I think that is mother of pearl (which is the same material pearls are composed of) and the outer inlay looks like abalone shell, very beautiful. What a great looking guitar. thumbs

Yep that's where I went to look at them. Awesome. I'd play the things, even if I had to suit up in a clean room to do so. Definitely works of art.

His self reviews make me laugh.

I know that it is technically impossible to make an electric guitar REALLY sound like an acoustic with passive circuitry. It has all been tried before, so where are the patent numbers boy?

What really got a chuckle out of me was him comparing his "Mood Control" to the sound of an Ovation acoustic. Ovations are some of the crappiest sounding acoustics ever made IMO; thin, tinny and lifeless. Sure, I can accomplish the same effect with an electric guitar using a high pass filter too. I think his black boxed passive circuit is probably a knock off variation of Gibson's old LS-6 filter, which was abandoned because it cut output signal too much, as all passive filters do. I bet he potted it in epoxy so it would be more difficult to expose it for what it is.

Don't get me wrong. That doesn't mean his axes might not sound great but let's be honest. They certainly look absolutely wonderful and if they sound like a damn good electric then isn't that enough?
