That's because women have an extra set of cone receptors in their eyes - which is why far fewer women are colour blind.

Not quite GAK, me boy. Only about half of the women have a 4th type of cone receptor and they can see more colors. Normally, people (men and women) have three types of cone cells.

I worked in the graphic arts industry for many years.
Colour perception is more to do with training and intelligence than anything else.

Like the other senses, I am sure that training and exercise can improve the sensitivity of perception but a person lacking cone cells in their retina is NOT going to be able to distinguish between some colors at all no matter what.

So what you're saying is that a percentage of women see the world differently than I do. Seems to me that they are all my ex's.

No, but it might explain why some women can't seem to see things in black and white terms.

I don't think this pic is referring to any science in particular.
I think this pic is just stating the obvious that men don't give a fuck about Mint, Spindrift & Plum.

Berto is right I see all the colors just like all of you do but I just don't give a shit about intermediary colors like women do. It is just what one cares about when they see colors. Is there anyone here who just can't see there different shades in the colors? Dr. Goins out.

The people I know who are considered colorblind have varying degrees of difficulty distinguishing some hues. I've only known one guy who is completely colorblind and his world is entirely grey scale. The only reason he knows the traffic light is green is because of its position and the red, yellow and green light all look the same to him.

I definitely agree that men tend to care less about the subtle shades than women unless they're an artist or heavily into graphics or something. I can see the different colors, I just don't care that much about them. My wife and daughter are definitely more into that stuff. So yeah, it's a girlie thing for the most part in my experience too.
