If hero worship by children regarding their parents is signified as brainwashing without really delineating the scenario to a greater degree I'd say that's a generalization based so broadly as to itself be fallacious, and certainly deleterious to the concept of the family unit in a very unreasonable way.

Regarding the video series linked above there are several glaring misdirections, half truths, incorrect allusions and definite agendization of the subject matter that make this info every bit as suspect as the "untold truths" they claim to be revealing.

All in all, war is hell on earth, leads to injury and/or death, and not all of those are going to be by combatants only, but it IS a part of it all that can never truly be eliminated.

For another take on how such things play out you might wanna talk to a recent group of US marines dropped into a hot spot in Afganistan behind the lines who had to watch the Afgans nearly completely encircle them and could only watch and wait for the inevitable since they were not allowed to fire until they were fired upon. Of course the Afgans know this too, so they took up positions 270 degrees around them before they ever fired that 1st shot which then allowed the US troops to return fire.

Having said all that, yes war should be a last resort option to end any conflict, but if you undertake it any fashion except with an "at all costs" ideology in how you wage it, even more lives will be lost. "When it comes to war, if you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics are obviously flawed."

In truth, in a perfect world, military action would never be necessary. But, last time I checked the world was not a perfect place, and I don't see any movement towards making it any more perfect either, so .... sad

To be, or not to be: that is the question: whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? To die: to sleep; no more; and, by a sleep to say we end the heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks that flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep; to sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; for in that sleep of death what dreams may come when we have shuffled off this mortal coil, must give us pause. There's the respect that makes calamity of so long a life; for who would bear the whips and scorns of time, the oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely, the pangs of dispriz'd love, the law's delay, the insolence of office, and the spurns that patient merit of the unworthy takes, when he himself might his quietus make with a bare bodkin? Who would fardels bear, to grunt and sweat under a weary life, but that the dread of something after death, the undiscover'd country from whose bourn no traveller returns, puzzles the will, and makes us rather bear those ills we have, than fly to others that we know not of? Thus consience doth make cowards of us all; and thus the native hue of resolution is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, and enterprises of great pith and moment with this regard their currents turn awry, and lose the name of action.

The problem I see cropping up is even in a righteous war when most support it, like WWII for example, in the beginning the longer it lasts the more the support wanes. It is starting to come to the point where anti war crowd start blaming the soldiers like during Viet Nam. I think if wars lasted only 4 or 5 years then we wouldn't see what we saw suring Viet Nam. The way we fight these modern wars now with one hand tied behind our backs is what makes them last so long. If we fight wars all out with all or nothing attitude like we did WWII then they would not last long enough for idiots with short attention spans to start their attacks against our soldiers who are just following orders. If they want to take out their frustrations on someone connected with the war then they need to direct it toward DC not our troops.
