This is the Tupolev copy of the North American XB-70 strategic bomber, which first flew in September, 1964. Tupolev, while being one of aviations most respected pioneers, was also known to plagiarize Western designs, like the Boeing B-29, which they back engineered and built as the TU-4. This Tupolev copy was the only one ever built, and now resides at a Russian air museum outside of Moscow.

The nose of this aircraft is a variable geometry structure, it "droops" when taxiing, taking off, and landing to allow the pilots an unobstructed view of the runway. When airborne, the nose straightens out and the forward cabin windows are no longer visible.

Oh yeah, and the Israeli version of this plane's nose pivots down so the pilots can see the change someone dropped on the ground...heh heh!
