Most Northwesterners completely freak out if a few snow flakes stick to the road, and all manner of stupidity ensues shortly thereafter.

I remember a full on blizzard that hit PDX in the early 70's, we had drifts clear up to the rain gutters.

biggest problem I have with getting around in the snow is all the over-cautious dipshits going 5 mph that are in my way...

I think we got about half a centimeter of snow here a few years ago.

When I was in primary school (elementary?) there was like 2 snowflakes fell.. either that or they were big, slow moving pieces of hail

Then imagine my surprise when I went skiing in Norway one Christmas and it dropped something like 2 metres in 24 hours.

Having pretty much never seen snow before, it was kinda cool

But then again, it was also -27 degrees (c) outside.. so it was very cool.

If snow fell here it would be the lead item on the news and front page of the papers.

They get it down south in winter, but not here.

It's still only a 2 and a bit hour drive to the ski fields, although at this time of the year the more important fact is that it's only an hour to the beach - east coast for golden sands and safe swimming, west coast for surf. smileys with beer

Yeah it was all over the news when we had a few snow flakes here too.

We're likewise about 200km from the snow fields, and they only get it due to altitude. I live bayside so I'm only a 2 minute walk to a beach (though bayside doesn't really = good beaching, that's still an hour or so drive away).
