With wings and rudder amputated, this DC-3 isn't as pretty as DC-3 Delaney that
plp posted a few pics back, but it fits right in here in Charlotte County, FL
which is home to a large number of WWII vets who are quickly disappearing. This
plane landed at our local airport with engine trouble about 22 years ago and
never left. It changed owners a couple of times and got beat up pretty bad by
hurricane Charley, but it's current owner who is trying to restore it recently
learned that it flew as a C-47 with the 82nd Airborne on D-Day and may have also
participated in the ill fated operation Market Garden.
