There is more money spent on golf in America than anything else, even defense....well it used to be more than defense a few years ago, but I dunno about that now.

Golf is so popular in Japan they have a 6 month waiting list just to get a tee time there; it costs so much to play golf in Japan it is cheaper for them to fly to Hawaii and play.

Common myth that golf stands for "Gentleman Only Ladies Forbidden", but it was actually named after the Celtic word for club.

golf is a game you have to learn @ a young age to enjoy, very few people can pick up the game later in life. If you don't play it must be the most boring thing next to bowling or pool to watch. normaly people like the author have tried and failed.
golf is also a game you can play all your life and never master.
I've been playing for 37 1/2 years and i still suck. but if i'm getting strokes...look out buddy, i can par or birdie at any moment...usually not the right one though.

there's also the gin/poker game in the club house afterwards to try and recoup some golf losses.
