I am not completely sure, but I seem to recall reading somewhere that the birth of Christ was originally celebrated on the first day of April. The Catholic church had it moved to the twenty-fifth of December in order to incorporate Winter Solstice celebrations. Furthermore, folk who still celebrated x-mas in April instead of on some day the Holy Church decided would be better suited were ridiculed as foolish. This is how the notion the first of April being called April Fool's Day came into history.

As I said at the start, I cannot verify this right out, but it does make sense in a warped sort of way. Any wondering scholars out there feel free to correct me with a truthful illumination of the facts.smiling

hate to break it to you Trib, but it doesnt matter if its the 1st of April or 25th of december. Both dates are made up and not his true birthdate just the celebration of it. So it doesnt matter when it occurs. On that note anyone that claims they celebrate xmas for his birthday and not the gimmiegimmie i'm a greedy ass like the rest of the world is a liar.

BTW what is this pic supposed to mean?

Mythology and theology. WTF, I do not care either way. I like Christmas for the smell of the tree in the living room and the bright, multi colored lights.

As for Easter, my bro's wife makes the best deviled eggs and potato salad in the world.

God bless you anyway.
