but how does this show that? i'm hopin' you're not dissin' x-mas, cus i get free shit on x-mas and i can't stand assholes who refuse to say merry x-mas now as it is giving my kind a bad name... it seems as if some xtian is posing as a "bright" and saying this bullcrap to smear us, much like (and this is just my assumption, corect me if i'm wrong) how you like to give the left a bad name

I believe in God and Jesus (in case you haven't noticed), but I dare not call myself a "Christian". That's just too wierd on too many levels. My advice: keep it simple peoples.

How a symbol of peace represents fanaticism escapes me. I think the photo of the little girls wearing the "God hates fags" shirts better represents a sign of fanaticism and misrepresentation of Christ's teachings. How can peace not be a good thing? To equate that and the celebration of the birth of Christ who taught love and tolerance with people who use bombs on innocents is quite a reach. There are people who call themselves Christians who are fanatically intolerant but those who truly are Christians are loving just as those who are true Muslims. We're all part of the human race riding on this little ball of dirt called earth, we should all just learn to stop the hate and the fighting.

The homeowners association who wanted to fine the lady $25 a day for displaying this wreath claimed that numerous residents complained that the symbol was a "secret" sign of protest for the Iraq war. And others claimed that they believed that the symbol was a "sign of Satan."


Excuse me -- but what is wrong with protesting the war in Iraq?

And since when has the peace symbol become a "sign of Satan"?

For a second there I thought we just suicide bombed a Mosque or took some cab drivers hostage and cut off their heads while quoting scripture.
Strange, I thought home owner associations were concerned with property values not salvation. Oh, I see. A little deception on who the christian right is. Sounds like a few misguided idiots to me.
Theres nothing wrong with peace, and nothing wrong with christians(I'm hoping).They kind of go hand in hand.
There are a some people who think you can solve all problems with diplomacy but history proves that wrong. If you believe it then good for you.
Christ was very peaceful, but last I checked he was the son of God.

A couple things ...

1)

My posting this image here is to confront Christian fanatics (not all christians) who thought they could use their religion for political purposes.

"Peace on earth" is not a political statement.

It also is not divisive which is the reason that flags and signs are disallowed by the woman's (the former homeonwer assn prez, btw) homeowner assn.

If anyone find's peace divisive they should be subject to a mental evaluation so we can head off another Timothy McVeigh, Randall Terry, and Eric Rudolph.

2)

There is no record that Christ ever taught anyone, anything.

Christian philosophers have perverted the tales of Christ so much that much of what is in the bible about Jesus is pure fiction.

Why rely on the stories of men who lived hundreds of years after Jesus died ?

We know that even the most honest of writers slants a story toward their beliefs. Beliefs that Jesus may not have held at all.

Jesus certainly didn't have enough material to fill a bible. Hell, not 1 writing can be found directly from Jesus' hand even though we find them from others before and during Jesus' time.

The Christian right in america have gone on to pervert what the early christian philosophers wrote in the bible. Why would anyone believe their crap ? It's at least 2 degrees of seperation from Jesus, if not more.

I agree with you Beast that whatever has been written about Christ has more than likely been spun by the writers but He is a wonderful symbol of peace and would be even if He were a fictional character (which I don't believe). It's pretty much because of those teachings that I strive to see the good in people which has led to disagreement between you and me about who we see the good in, but it also why I don't hate you even though we so passionately disagree. If only everyone could learn to just talk instead of doing harm.
