"So, Mr. President, please, pay no attention to the people that say the glass is half full. 32% means the glass -- it's important to set up your jokes properly, sir. Sir, pay no attention to the people who say the glass is half empty, because 32% means it's 2/3 empty. There's still some liquid in that glass is my point, but I wouldn't drink it. The last third is usually backwash."

But on the other hand, a 68% =dis= approval rating means that 68% percent of the people =approve= of the job your =not= doing. Think about it.

That doesn't necessarily follow; 67% may not give a fuck, in which case, as a statistician/spin-doctor, you could truthfully claim that 32 times more people approve than disapprove.......there are lies, damned lies and statistics.

"Looks like the "glass 1/2 empty" perspective"....this whole concept has been distorted by the woolly-minded who think it's an indication of optimism or pessimism. Quite simply, if a glass is in the process of being filled, at the half-way mark it's half-full; if it's being drunk, it's half-empty at the same point. Whichever way, it's half a glassful.

And I prefer to fill my glass with homebrew. What say you?
