As an American I can't say I would disagree however I would make 1 change. The European flag should be changed to all white with a yellow pee stain in the middle. Of course the color white represents the Europeans desire to surrender quickly and the pee stain represents what the Europeans would do all over themselves if the US brought all it’s troops home and made the world look after itself.

Funny how Britain and Australia have helped out the US in its various incursions, yet it wasn't until the USA itself was attacked that they decided they'd better get involved.

Better hope you don't get what you ask for. The USA, like it or not, is the keystone to the world's economy and security. Personally, I think it would be a great idea if we DID re-adopt an isolationist stance and stayed out of everyone else's petty squables. The US has been quite generous, giving freely of it's abundant financial, technical, medical, and military resources whenever we're called upon. We aid and assist even our own enemies when natural catastrophies create human suffering, and provide shelter and comfort to all who are oppressed. Let's see how long you can hold out.

I'd LOVE to see us bring all our troops/money and investments home, line our borders with our armed forces and see how long it would take for the rest of the world to find their next totally oppressive dictator.

You guys can talk all the big talk you like, but without the US to watch your backs it would ALREADY be a much different world than you live in today.

And just as an aside to messyflatmate. We were trying NOT to enter the war and remain isolationists before we were attacked and drawn into WWII on not one, but 2 fronts.

The European Alliance was hardly suited to even manage a single assault from a country the size of the state of Texas ! What a pathetic thought that is !

If you feel our joining up with the Allied Forces in WWII had no impact on the outcome of that war all I can say is that your understanding of how it really played out is obviously seriously limited.

Americans, let's face it, we've been a spoiled country for a long time, you know what the number one health risk in america is? Obesity! Obesity! They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic. An epidemic! Like it's Polio! Like, we'll be talking to our grandchildren about it one day, the great obesity epidemic of 2004. "How'd you get through it, grandpa?" "Oh, it was horrible, Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere."
Nobody knows why we're getting fatter, look at our lifestyles. I'll sit at a drive-thru, I'll sit there for, I'll sit there behind fifteen other cars instead of getting up and making an eight foot walk to the totally empty counter. Everything's mega-mealed, super-sized, "Want
biggie fries with that, want a jumbo-fry, wanna go large, want a biggie fry, wanna have thirty burgers for a nickel, you fat motherfucker? There's room in the bag, take it! Want a fifty-five gallon drum of coke with that? It's only three more cents!"

I work 7 days a week straight to cover for my "weekend warrior" co-worker while he is "training to protect us" (with no extra compensation). I am not really bitching... I do realize the need for a military but I think that is being misused. War and oil is big bucks to the people in charge and thier families and friends.

Tell me, do you have electricity, running water, and heat in your home? Do you drive a car, or take the bus to work? Do you use any consumer products made of metal or plastic? If so, I guess you're as dependent on oil as the rest of us are. And Guess what? I pay taxes too. I also put my life on the line like the many thousands of men and women in our armed forces, to give you the freedom to say and do what you please, and travel anywhere you wish.

Those who have served in the forces have been very brave and we have no quarrel with them as individuals. And we share the pain of those families who have lost their men in this as in all other wars.

Our problem is with those who made the decisions to send you in to war. We know that having these invasions have made our world a more dangerous place. Not the safer one that the government would have you believe. Every time you invade, you raise the stakes, it is like a red rag to a bull. Keeping troops based in Saudi Arabia, all that time you supported Israel's occupation of the West Bank, has just given the angry young men in the Middle East all the ammunition they need to get hotheaded about fighting back. And yes, they see it as fighting back. It is hard to see it from their perspective, but you have to try, if you want to understand what is really going on.

Lousy point about Hitler. Are you saying that if Chamberlain had just talked tough to Hitler and made some threats, he would have put away his invasion plans? No, that obviously would have made no difference at all to someone like Hitler.

So are you suggesting that Europe should have made a pre-emptive invasion? On what basis? Because they didn't like Nazi policy?

You attempt to justify the Iraq invasion but invoking the name of Hitler. But you don't have a point.

Emotional speeches are very seductive and are a favourite tool of politicians. They were rarely better used than by Hitler. Be careful you are not swayed by these powerful but empty statements. Or you will be just willing sheep led by governments.

Better get the cams too, if you're gonna take it apart that far. Proper set up and tuning on the dyno should get you close to 200hp at the crank, or 165-170hp on the pavement. Been there, done that. My ZX11D4 was set up with forged arias pistons, Falicon crank and nitrided rods, stock pipes, Keihin FCR 41 flat slide carbs, Muzzy cams, and Sims&Rohm ignition advancer, and this beast was into the mid 9s and dyno'd 169hp at the rear wheel. And it was dead straight and steady doing it.

Of course I know history 3154 and if you did you would know that the Versailles treaty was one of the main causes. To digress they forced a similar thing on Japan after WW2 its lucky the Japs didn't react the same way as the germans did. But back on track there was this sense of huge injustice also the depression and the disastrous Weimar republic feeding into the powder keg that was 1930s Germany. By the time "appeasement" happened the fuse was long ago lit and it was just a matter of when it would blow. Appeasement was so irrelevant and I can't believe you tried to use it as an excuse to justify the Iraq invasion. And Germanys war machine was so powerful thanks to General Motors and DuPont and others who built their war factories. Some say thats the real reason USA held off fighting in WW2 because of all the American money invested in Germany.

... Whereas Iraq's military had suffered the 1991 Gulf War I bombing campaign, after which it was systematically mangled during the =twelve years= of weekly bombing sorties before our 2003 invasion. Iraq had no military to speak of at that point, and was totally vulnerable...

...to occupation. Which is what we are doing, so that we can protect corporate oil investments in western Asia, the Caspian basin, as well as installing new pipelines through Afghanistan and Turkey.

If you still believe that propaganda BS about "WMD's", or "democracy", or "removing a dictator", you should try not taking your meds for awhile.

Interesting parallel with Germany and Japan though: 60 years after WWII and the USA =still= has major bases in those countries.

How much you want to bet we are going to keep major bases in Iraq operational for as long as we possibly can? I bet we will.

Huge public opinion as now against the war.We also had just had a depression. The line in the sand is if Isreal deserves a state. If you believe they do your considered an enemy of Islam.Any threat from that area must be dealt with and quickly.Thats what America has learned from the treaty of Versailles and Hitler working his people into a fever.By the way the French sold wepons to the Iraqis against the resolutions and the government played dumb and anti-war.The Iraqis used Russian and Chineese wepons mostly two more countries agaist the war.The oil for food program was a fraud and so was the UN.If more countries had stood beside us and taken part there would have been far less bloodshed.

The French sold weapons to the Iraqis? Humm, must be the Free Market in action, is that a bad thing now?

Kinda like how the US sold weapons to the Iraqis after it committed atrocities, and then continued to support Saddam for a decade despite his being a staunch dictator. Oh right! The US supported Saddam's rise to power! Who could forget that?!

So what did Iraq have to do with "today's foes" Duane/3154? I recall that Al Qaeda was in ... oh gosh, where was it ... Afghanistan! that's right! Why are we in Iraq again?

There would have been far less bloodshed if the US hadn't fucking invaded another country, with the goal of long-term occupation.

But hey, why quibble? Nothing we can do about it now. We'll just keep hearing different versions of "why we're there", whatever suits the moment.
